Getting Published, part 5

Posted on June 21, 2006 by Nancy Callahan

Nothing too new to report since part 4 of my saga.

I’ve sent proposals to 2 of the 3 agents who liked my project. I don’t think the first agent shares my vision for the book, so I’m not sure if she’d be a good match. (Though, she did give me some great general advice, which I’m thankful for.) The second agent has yet to respond. And right now, I’m spiffing up the proposal to get it ready for Agent #3. I hope to have it in the mail by the end of the week.

I’ve been trying to send out a new batch of agent queries on the 15th of every month, but dealing with the interested agents has been time-consuming and I missed my deadline for June. Also, I’ve been thinking that if one of the interested agents wants to take me on, then there’s no need to continue with the querying, right? But I see now that it’s important to keep the queries rolling, because I have so little control over this whole process, it’s better to do things sooner rather than later.

I’ll write again if I have any good news… :)
