On Beauty - Zadie finally lives up to promise
Zadie Smith, with her third book ‘On Beauty’ has finally lived up to the hype that has surrounded her career and produced something that is worthy of the Orange Prize that was awarded to this novel. It’s a lengthy family epic with a fairly ambitious (not altogether believable) plot. For me, what distinguishes this book from her other two, is that at last she seems to have found her own voice and it’s rather good, with some really vibrant dialogue that makes her characters come alive.
