Harry Potter Leaked
The final installment of the Harry Potter series is scheduled to be out July 21st. While some will be waiting in line or patiently waiting for their pre-order to be shipped, some Internet users are already reading the Deathly Harrows.
How is this possible? Apparently a leaked copy of the seventh and final book has found its way onto the Internet. Illegal copies of everything from movies to music to books sadly be found on the Internet. It’s no surprise that the latest Harry Potter book is on the World Wide Web. What is surprising is that the book hasn’t been officially released.
According to Reuters, one retailer has already shipped books to customers, which is a big no no. The major faux pas will most likely bring legal action against the retailer.
Pictures of pages from the book have been leaked onto the Internet, which has angered many fans. Spoilers and other tidbits from the Harry Potter book have been popping up all over the Internet, making it difficult to avoid learning something about the final book before you even read it.
12 million copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Harrows will go on sale Saturday. The first six Harry Potter books have sold 325 million copies worldwide.
Term Limits by Vince Flynn
Term Limits was the first book written by author Vince Flynn. It centers around Washington politics and a group that is out to restore power to the people. The book starts off with a bang and grabs the reader’s attention, not letting go until the very last page.
The first pages of Term Limits depict the assassination of three of Washington’s top politicians, then a note from the attackers saying they won’t change and no one is out of their reach, not even the president. Freshmen congressman and former U.S. Marine Mickey O’Rourke may hold the key to solving the mystery. Will he be able to stop the assassinations or join the cause?
Term Limits was a definite page turner. What I liked best was that this book grabbed my attention right after the first page as it jumps immediately into the action. The action is swift and reads like a movie plot more than a novel. Some novels get bogged down in details, which some people really enjoy. I’m not one of those people as I’d rather to read the story and not so interested in every minute detail of the scenery. Term Limits delivers a lot of action and a great story.
If you like government intrigue and thrillers, then Term Limits might be worth a read. If you aren’t hooked after the first few pages, then the book will not be for you.
Sweet Potato Queens’ Big Ass Cookbook and Financial Planner
The Sweet Potato Queens series of books is written by Jill Conner Browne. This Jackson, MS author collects antidotes and stories from her friends far and near (known as sweet potato queens in their own right) then presents them in a humorous account in one of her books. I received Big Ass cookbook through Booksfree.com, so I wasn’t sure what to really expect. I had expected a traditional cookbook but in truth it’s the furtherest thing from a standard cookbook there is.
I can feel my southern roots pouring out just thinking about the Sweet Potato Queens cookbook. It’s full of humor, told with the southern gentile touch. There are recipes in the cookbook like the no spoon divinity, which promises that you will not need a spoon to eat this divinity. Divinity is one of those candies that if all conditions aren’t perfect, then you will have big mess instead of hard candy.
The financial advice is more of a “learn from our mistakes” sort of thing. It’s presented in the form of financial tips throughout the book usually following a story that depicts the given advice.
I had read a few excerpts to my husband that I thought were especially funny. He, of course, missed some of the woman-centric humor and told me that I was sassy enough without reading this book that might plant ideas in my pretty, little head. (See? The southern talk is just creeping out.)
The Sweet Potato Queens’ Big-Ass Cookbook and Financial Planner is a fun read. Mixed in with all the humor are some might tasty recipes.
