Self help- anyone have actual success?
Posted on September 29, 2008 by Richard Bucholz
You have to ask yourself what self help really means. I guess to me that means following tips that someone else had laid out for you. Is this really self help? Sounds like advice to me! Although you are performing the steps yourself, all you really are doing is repeating something else something has done. This may indeed help you, but guess what? You did it yourself, you didn’t need help. I have yet to meet a person who has benefited from self help books anyway. Maybe it’s something that people don’t want to admit…it’s not “cool” to say you needed help anyway. I’ll admit it to certain people- like the therapist! These type of books can always be classified into two categories: religious and everything else.
Another thing to consider here is the motives of the people writing the book. Do they really want to help you? Or are they out there to make a quick buck…prove me wrong!
