This past summer I searched through my library to take a book camping with me. I picked up a book I read in my teen days and thought I’d like to explore again. It’s called Locked In Time by Lois Duncan. From the looks of it, as well as the content, my guess is it took place in the late 80′s/early 90′s. Overall, it was fun to step back into my teen mind (I am now 26) and recall what life was like nearly 10 years ago.
What a refreshing change from the overly sexual nature books have taken on these days! I didn’t have to worry about a man ripping his shirt off to reveal bulging muscles, ready to save a woman from her prudish ways! Instead it was about a smart teen girl who had her head on her shoulders, discovered a mystery and used her skills to do it.
It had a sad ending but fitting, of course. I missed the vocabulary I’m used to reading so that was a little dissapointing, but overall, I think this was a good book for teenangers into mysteries. I liked it ten years ago and like it now.
