“Go Away Big Green Monster” by Ed Emberly is one of my all time favorite children’s books. This book teaches children to face their fears by telling a monster to go away. There are die cut pages that are a wonderful addition to the book. As each page is turned, a body part of the face is taken away, such as his big yellow eyes, two swiggly ears, or his long bluish-greenish nose.
I like this book because it teaches the children colors as well and has great description words. And I have found preschoolers reading the book by themselves after they have heard it a few times. This really promotes great reading skills and is very rewarding to the children.
Ed Emberly did a fantastic job with this book. I never get tired of reading it, and I do have to read it a lot. This is perfect to read to preschoolers and even toddlers will get into it.
