A really good resource book for preschool teachers is “Channels to Children: Early Childhood Activity Guide for Holidays and Seasons”. The book is by Carol Beckman, Roberta Simmons, and Nancy Thomas. It is illustrated by Debbie Reisbeck. It has 227 pages and I purchased it for $18.70.
Each chapter has a section on concepts to teach children, as well as art activities. Other activities include cooking activities, science and math, fingerplays and music, language activities, games/social activities, movement/creative dramatics, physical development and field trips.
This book is broken down into the four seasons and gives ideas for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter, as well as a few other holidays. I find myself using it quite a lot.
