“A Year Full of themes” is a great book that was created by Teacher created materials. It is by Beverly Amaral Tavares and is 336 pages in length.
The beginning of the book has a section on how to make flannel boards that is very helpful, especially if you are a new preschool teacher. It also includes how to make velcro mats and shows many graphing ideas that are nice.
Many themes are presented in this book. I personally like the Aikendrum theme, as well as the peanut butter and jelly theme. My children really like the peanut flannel board that I made using the patterns in the book. Many great patterns that are all reproductible.
Each section includes great ideas for art, social development, music and movement, science, discovery, language, math and emotional developement. each theme also includes what you will need for the theme as well as your materials list, which is very handy to have.
A really neat tip I found in this book is to make books on tape to increase word recognition for the child.
