This is one of my favorite animal books and is perfect to read if your child likes safari animals. It is “Gentle Little Lion” by Claude Clement and was adapted by Patricia Jensen. It is illustrated by Marcelle Geneste and is a little animal adventures book.
Little Lion was told by father to follow the big lions so Little Lion will be a good big lion. But Little Lion is worried he wont’t be able to take care of himself. Father Lion is also worried. Little Lion runs away but Father Lion finds him asleep in the tall grass after little Lion has been playing with some of the other animals. Father Lion roars and scares Little Lions new friends, so Little Lion roars back because he is mad. Father Lion is proud to hear the roar and lets Little Lion play with the new friends that he has made.
The back of the book contains a fact sheet about lions that is very interesting.
