“Hold Your Head High Little Giraffe” is by Catherine Lukas and illustrated by John Carrozza. It is a little animals adventure book.
Jenny giraffe goes to the water hole with Emma gazelle when a cheetah runs past them. Jenny thinks that he is amazing. Then Jenny admires a Zebra wishing she had the sripes. A lion roars close by and Jenny marvels over him, even though her family would clobber him if he came close.
they see the elephants and Jenny thinks that they are very clever. Emma tells Jenny she is the luckiest animal in the world and that she is fine how she is and Jenny finally sees that.
This is a great book about teaching preschoolers differences. While Jenny thought every other animal was special Emma made her see that she too was special and very lucky to be herself. This book can influence how children see themselves and make them feel special as well.
