Here is an excellent book about teaching forgiveness to young children. It is “Little Elephant Learns to Forgive” by Stephanie Marbury and illustrated by Frank Mayo. Clarence and Mack are best friends who happen to be elephants. Clarence tells Mack to come over by him when they are at the watering hole one day because he found something. Mack goes over and falls in the mud and several other elephants laugh at Mack. Mack stomps off and refuses to forgive Clarence until the day of Mack’s birthday party. Clarence apologizes and Mack forgives him, and then invites him to the party as Clarence was just sitting by himself under a tree. The two run off and start playing games at the party.
The elephants in this book are very cute. The illustrations are very colorful and the story in itself is cute. Children can learn a very valuable lesson in reading this book about how it is important to forgive.
