Tips for writing a request letter

Posted on July 12, 2009 by hubbort

Here are some easy to follow tips that will help you write a request letter that will get the result you want:

  • Respect the reader’s time and effort. Don’t ask questions with answers that you could easily find without bothering the reader with it. Instead, provide the necessary information and explain your request clearly.
  • Don’t wonder off the subject or include details that the reader doesn’t need or want to know.  Explain the reason for your letter in the first or second sentence. Be brief so that there will be no misunderstanding.
  • Ask politely, after all, you are making a request and not making a demand.  Show that you appreciate anything the reader can do for the favor you’re asking.
  • Construct the letter in a formal approach so that it will make a good impression and the reader will take your request letter seriously.  Proofreading will make your letter flawless, again to gain the necessary good impression.

That easy. Good luck and may you get the best result from these tips.
