Determining What to Write With

For every writer there is a question: what should I use to write with? There are of course the usual answers: pen and paper, computer, things like that. But have you ever thought about what each does for you? Some writers can’t stand working with pen and paper, they must be on a computer. Other writers hate the computer and need a pencil, not a pen, and a certain kind of notebook to write well. One thing a writer must do is determine what they write best with. It seems like it should be easy to do, and it is, if you do it right. Start out with whatever you have on hand: if that is a pen and paper, start with that. If it is a computer, start with that. If you are used to writing on a computer, switch to pen and paper for a while. If it is a pen and paper, switch to a computer. What if you have no access to a computer? Go to your local library. Many libraries are offering free internet to their patrons, which has to use a computer. Make sure to check if you can use your own storage device. You may find that it is easier to write with something you haven’t before. You could even try a stick in a bunch of dirt!
