Faking It

The book called Faking It, by Jennifer Cruisie, is one of the best comedic romances that has been penned thus far. Each character is very well crafted, all with their own facets that are just awaiting discovery. The entire family is wacky and nutty the way a family of artistic people are supposed to be. The main character, Matilda Goodnight, Tilda for short, is all about keeping her family in the current place they are living. She is ashamed of her family’s past and hides it from everyone. Everyone, that is, until she meets Davy. Davy is the strong and handsome man Tilda has never wanted. Her last relationship ended badly and she used to have a crush on her sister’s ex-husband, who turned gay. The entire family is a screwed up mess with Tilda barely able to hold the family together. She tries hard, but it isn’t until Davy starts peeling her apart that she realizes she actually can tell him her family’s secrets. When this happens, she is finally free of the guilt she has felt her entire life and comes to the realization that she actually loves Davy. Davy has warned her from day one that he will leave eventually and she’s come to terms with that. But, Davy hasn’t.
