Tamora Pierce

Tamora Pierce is one of my very favorite authors. She writes fantasy for teen girls and I still like her, even though I am no longer a teen. It is easy to see why I enjoy her writing, though. She has said that she writes what she could not find when she was a girl: fantasy fiction about strong female leads. Each character she crafts is a strong female, except for a few of them, namely Briar Moss. It is interesting to read her because she has a very nice writing style and the plot lines are always somewhat dangerous. I have never read a character study by her and I have enjoyed everything I have read that she wrote. I can’t say that for every author that I like, though. Probably the best thing about her is that her female characters are so strong and that they are able to weather the battle against the villians in her life. And the villians are always top notch. The girls are never in the thing alone, though, which is good. They always have caring guardians or other people who help them out. They just have to figure out that people are there to help them. Tamora Pierce’s books are wonderful to help build the confidence of teen girls.
