Last Days

Last Days, by Scott Westerfeld, continues to follow the outbreak of vampiric tendencies among the world’s population. Towards the beginning of the book, the reason why this outbreak is happening is discovered. A giant wyrm comes up out of the ground, eating everything in its path. The two characters who see it come out of the ground feel a need to kill it. They start going after it, only to discover it is too strong for them. These wyrms start coming up all over the world and everyone who has a strain of the vampiric infection needs to fight and kill them. It is discovered that someone is able to call the wyrms up from the ground through music. Everyone in the book starts to get really fit and starts training. They must be ready for when the wyrms will be fought. A big party is had by the whole community of people who have the vampiric virus. The party has food and music and lots and lots of weapons. Onces the special wyrm music starts playing, the huge white wyrms start coming to the surface. The music is continued until they are sure that no more wyrms will come. Exhausted, but happy, the entire group celebrates the wyrms’ defeat.
