Holes Film Adaptation

Posted on October 27, 2009 by Sarah Drake

The best film adaptation of a movie that I have ever seen has got to be the adaptation of Holes. Holes is a book about a kid named Stanley Yelnats, he comes from a long line of Stanley Yelnatses because the first one’s mother realized that Stanley was the reverse of Yelnats and everyone after her has named their first son Stanley. Anyway, back to the adaptation. This book was written by Louis Sacchar, a very well known children’s author. The screen adaptation was written by the same person. This is a big reason that the screen adaptation is one of the best ones that I have ever seen: the author and the screenwriter were the same person. This worked out well for the movie because fans of the book were able to see the movie portrayed exactly how the author would have intended it to be done. I think that all movie adaptations should be written by the author, if that person is still alive because it makes more sense to do it that way! It should teach Hollywood something that the movie Holes was so popular because the movie was written by the same person who wrote the book.
