The Sands of Sakkara

The Sands of Sakkara is Glenn Meade’s bestselling historic thriller, and one of the best novels ever written. The story is set in the sands of Egypt, where the two protagonists, Jack Halder and Harry Weaver are involved in an archaeological dig along with the extremely beautiful Rachel Stern. The duo fall in love with Rachel Stern, but neither proposes for fear of affecting the excellent friendship that exists among the three. The archaeological dig is suspended when the World War breaks out.

Halder belongs to an aristocratic Prussian military family and enlists in Hilter’s Nazi army, though he does not fancy Hitler’s plans. Rachel’s father, also a German is virulent anti-Nazi. On their way to Istanbul, they are shipwrecked and captured by Nazi forces, and Rachel, half Jewish is put in a concentration camp. Harry Weaver, in the meantime enlists in the US army.

Halder and Weaver presume Rachel dead in the shipwreck, and start their lives afresh. Halder is however shocked when he understands that Rachel has not only survived, but would be accompanying him to a mission in Egypt, a mission so diabolic that it would change the course of war.

The rest of the novel is full of hair gripping adventure, and the struggle between duty and friendship. The tale takes an unexpected twist in the end.

The Sands of Sakkara has established Glenn Meade as the grandmaster of adventure.
