Jennifer Weiner’s characters in this book “In Her Shoes” are created with greatest weaknesses that make these characters, Maggie and Rose, charming and likeable. Maggie and Rose are sisters. Rose is the heavy set, smart, intelligent, and very successful in her career. On the other hand, Maggie, who is just two years younger than Maggie, is beautiful, outgoing, however suffers from dyslexia, not too smart and jumps from one job failure to the next.
The relationship of the sisters, between Maggie and Rose, is the main or central feature of this book. The relationship is complex due to a very difficult past shadowed by a family tragedy. Jealousy somehow threatens to break their relationship apart, particularly through an act of deceit, but despite that, these two sisters find out that the ties that bind them together are stronger than anything trying to tear them apart.
This book will make you cheer for these likeable, completely imperfect girls and will tug at your heartstrings all the way. Also parallel to the story is their Grandmother who connects them to their past, and draws them toward a happy future. If you like happy endings and great characters, then this book is definitely for you.
