Createspace.com

Createspace.com is a great website where you can publish your own book for free! I am going to use it to publish a book I am creating.

The best thing about this free service is that the books can be marketed on Amazon.com which is web site with lots of exposure and members to buy your book!

In this market, there is no one to answer to about what topic your book covers or their need for it. They simply allow everyone to publish their own book or CD for free.

Createspace earns money on the sales of your book and pays you royalties on the sales of your books.

This is a great way for a new author to get started or experience authors to avoid the stress of trying to get book companies to buy their book.

If you choose to create a book here, you can advertise it for sale on your blog, website, or non-spam classifieds. It also might be good to join Amazon’s affiliate program while you’re there to earn commision off the sale of any book listed there.

Another option is Cafepress, but they don’t have a listed option to sell at Amazon. However, you can buy your own create books there at wholesale and sell them yourself anywhere.

Whatever you choose, it’s up to you! Happy publishing!

Publishing an E-book

If you are just starting out as a writer, are not sure if you are going to get accepted with the query letters you have been sending out or don’t want to go through the pains of physical publishing, e-book publishing is a great option.

From what I’ve been seeing, as well as others, e-book publishing is becoming a popular means of getting your words out into public, either for free or for a charge. There are a wide variety of individuals who are interested in seeing virtual print, just as much as they would see regular print.

If you are interested in publishing an e-book, it is so simple. You just have to format your book in Adobe Reader or Publisher. Of course, you want to make sure that you get the copyright taken care of first. The formatting should include not only the right page numbers on the right side of the book (odd on the right, even on the left), but should also include a title page, table of contents, credits and copyrights. For those who are interested in actually grabbing attention as well, make sure that you look into the possibilities for graphic design and arts.

So, many who are familiar with the internet can take this much and just sell the books themselves. The only key to this is making sure that secure settings are available in order to accept payments for those who want to download the book. If you want to give the book away for free, all you have to do is upload it on a website as a file. Everyone will have access to putting it in their computer once they click on the link.

Another option, which I strongly recommend, is to let an online publishing house take care of everything. There are places such as Lulu that will allow you to upload your formatted book. They will then allow for both downloads and publishing on demand, which will allow individuals to have the option to have a hard cover book without you doing anything except for the formatting of the book.

The idea with self-publishing an e-book is to give yourself options that will allow you to not only get your words into public, but also to enjoy the benefits that come with virtual options.

Publishing for a World Wide Market

If you are working on a book or are planing on publishing a book, there is a new playing field that is starting to merge. The boundaries of business, information and ideas are completely broken (thank you Internet), and now you have the potential of going overseas with your book, especially if you are publishing your book yourself.

So, what gives with doing this? Well, of course, you want to start with a foundation, then build from there. Start with actually finishing the book and getting it ready to go, then put the book everywhere on the Internet. Figuring out how to work with the Internet and knowing the tips and tricks is a definite way to get you boosted up into the right system.

You don’t just want to get your hopes up in this one place. The next step that you want to consider is target marketing for your book. Take, for instance, if you think your book would do well in Paris, France. You can figure out what territories to target it in and which types of people in these areas would be more susceptible to your book. Then, you want to get a translator to not only translate your book, but also your website. While you can offer it in English, having it available in both is a way to respect the culture and to let them know that you are looking out for them.

If you really want to enjoy your book success, take it even a step further. Yes, book readings are a great ticket, and they don’t just happen in the book stores of America. So, give yourself a vacation and figure out ways to book yourself in different areas over seas that will allow you to sell more books and make more networks.

Magic! Now, you not only have your book published and available from your own pocket, but you also have the capacity to reach markets over seas and to start making the connections that you need. Getting out of your own words and into the language of others is a great way to not only see the world, but also to make a living off of it.

Going for Gold

There are new options available for self - publishing, all which can help you to achieve getting your book into paper back and on the shelves. If you are a writer that also understands marketing, promotions and has a perseverance for getting your words out there, than self - publishing is a great route to go. Following these simple steps will help you to get your name on the front covers.

Step 1: After you have finished your book, make sure that you get all of the legalities taken care of. Copyrighting through the Library of Congress and getting an ISBNC code will help to show that the work is yours and legitimate.

Step 2: Get the right layout. Since you are doing the book yourself, you will want to take some time to think about formatting for hard copies and for the Internet. First and foremost, you will need a graphic design. After this, you will want to add in a PDF file as well as a layout for hard copy. Make sure you get the right fonts!

Step 3: Think strategically about how to get your book out there. With the Internet, you have options. You can easily promote your book by going to a publishing on demand area. All you have to do is upload your file, figure out some Internet promotions and you are on your way.

Step 4: Move towards an affiliate program. There are several publishing companies that help with getting you out there, including everything from publishing the copies to promoting and marketing your book for you.

Step 5: If you don’t want to work with an affiliate program, think about ways to get copies of your book. There are several publishing and printing areas that have the capacity of putting your book together. You can do this with a small budget and start your promotions right away.

Step 6: Go into promotions. You can do everything from book readings to going to schools in your community, all which will get you the copies sold and move you forward into a popular item on the shelves.

These simple steps, combined with some research and perseverance, will get you on the right foot towards having your name in print and becoming successful with letting others hear your words.

Getting Help With Illustration

A large majority of books needs to be illustrated, be it just the front cover, children’s books or cook books. Even if  your doing self-publishing, if you can’t draw a stick figure then you need to find someone who can illustrate your novel. Here are a few places that you can begin at.

Self Publishing Your Own Novel

What is self publishing?

Self publishing is bypassing the huge, traditional publishers and doing everything yourself. You would bear all the costs that a publisher would usually cover and market, distribute, store the books yourself.

Because you have no contracts with a publication, you keep all 100% of the profits, make your own schedule and write the books that you want to write, not what a publisher or agent thinks you should write. Plus you keep all the rights of the novels.

Doing this all by yourself is tough, but if you’ve got the guts and the right mentality, this could be the type of publishing for you. However on the internet and off there are small companies that help with self-publishing. Here are a few of them:
